The Artistic Mestizaje

The Artistic Mestizaje - This mural was commissioned by Mexican Heritage from local artist Carlos Perez and is located at San José's famous Mexican Heritage Plaza. It is a visual representation both of Mexico's rich cultural diversity and her visual arts heritage, depicting a history of indigenous, Hispanic and Latino visual arts. Click on the central image to experience the mural's two dimensional representation of this artistic mestizaje (the blending of indigenous and European cultures).
