Trick Roping

At 16, Anthony is an accomplished charro, who can be seen regularly in charreadas, Mexican-style rodeos. He's an authentic floreador (trick roper), properly federated with the "Federación Mexicana de Charrería FMdeCh A.C." in the United States.
The FMdeCh, founded in México in 1933, is the only official institution which sanctions, regulates and sets the guidelines worldwide for the charreada competition, exactly like its counterpart, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association PRCA, created in 1936.
Anthony goes to high school in Matenca, CA. He's been practicing Charrería, México's National Sport by Excellence, ever since he was little. He belongs to "El Rincón Charro Association" of Turlock, CA.
Anthony is a full time charro and has been competing all over CA and the US where charreadas are held. For him, the charreada is not just a sport, it's a tradition that he dearly loves and reveres.
When he puts on his charro attire to either enter a charreada or participate in civic events or fiestas celebrating or paying homage to his Mexican heritage, he feels he's wearing Mexico's and the Southewestern US' History. Therefore, he wears it with dignity and respect.
"Ser charro es ser mexicano," he says. "To be a charro is to be a Mexican and a Mexican American."
