Reyna Grande’s debut novel Across a Hundred Mountains pays homage to the millions of undocumented immigrants who enter the U.S.

Her story humanizes the faceless politics of immigration offering a unique perspective about those that make it across, those who don’t’ and those who are left behind.

At the tender age of 9, Grande herself entered the United States as an illegal immigrant and later became the first member in her family to receive a college diploma. In 2003, Grande was selected as one of the eight fellows in the Emerging Voices program sponsored by the Pen Center USA.
