With volunteer organizations patrolling our southern borders and immigration issues saturating the airwaves and newspaper headlines, legislators are debating comprehensive immigration reform that could place more restrictions on undocumented workers and their employers. What are the current prospects for the President’s Guest Worker Plan? How would these measures affect the undocumented workers in California who have been working here for years? Panelists will examine these highly charged immigration reform issues from a national, state and local perspective.
Panelists:
- Richard Hobbs, Director, Office of Human Relations, Santa Clara County
-
Karen Hanretty, Communications Director and chief spokesperson for the California Republican Party
-
Mike Honda, U.S. Congressman, 15th District (CA-D)
Moderators:
- Dr. Gloria Duffy, President & CEO, Commonwealth Club
-
Dr. Marcela Davison Aviles, President & CEO, Mexican Heritage Plaza
