Playwright Luis Alfaro’s take on Sophocles’ Electra transforms the kingdom and lords of ancient Greece into the barren streets of a Central Valley barrio, where gang members are royalty and Chicano slang becomes the new poetry.
Electricidad is the young daughter consumed by a desire for revenge for her father’s murder. A tragic look at how lust for power can destroy a community, Electricidad crackles with intensity and sly humor, transforming a 2000 year old Greek play into a vibrant and thoroughly unforgettable myth for the modern age. This play contains strong language and will be presented in English.
Teatro Visión is a Resident Art Partner at the Mexican Heritage Plaza.

Domingo de Teatro 3/12: FREE and immediately followed by a Reception sponsored by the Mexican Heritage Plaza. Reception is free to Electricidad/Domingo de Teatro ticket holders and will feature a live dance band!
